Benjamin Arthur Smith, age 80, of Evergreen

Funeral Services for Benjamin Arthur Smith will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Lone Pine Baptist Church with Reverend David Newton officiating. Burial with Military Honors will in the Griffin Hill Cemetery in Lone Pine under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.

Visitation will be held at MELANCON FUNERAL HOME in Bunkie, on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. and at LONE PINE BAPTIST CHURCH on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 9 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Smith, age 80, of Evergreen was born on December 6,1934 and passed away on May 23, 2015 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. He was a retired US Army veteran, having served during the Korean War and two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; Rev. Archie & Lillie Smith; two brothers, Kenneth Smith and Archie Jerry "Toby" Smiith; two sisters, Lillie Smith Ferguson and Gennevieve Smith Blood; one son, Michael Smith; one daughter; Deborah Smith Parke and one grandson, Robbie Parke.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of forty years, Robin Smith; his children, Adam Smith and wife, Amie, of Cottonport; Shawna Smith Lambing and husband, Derick, of Center Point; Gordon Smith and wife, Lauri, of Mandeville; Gary Smith and wife, Vickie, of Livingston and James Smith of Albany; four sisters, Flossie Harris, Molly Marshall, Eloise Norris and Peggy Corely; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Honored to serve as pall bearers are Kyle Smith; Michael S. Dupuy, Billy Redmon Jr, Donald Turpin,and Robert Gray.
