Leonard Cole of Deville

Funeral services celebrating the life of Leonard I. Cole will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday August 10, 2015 at Center Point United Pentecostal Church with Reverends Jack Knapp, Ricky Shane Barksdale, Bruce Loften and Dale Hutchinson officiating. Burial will be in Knapp Family Cemetery, Deville with military honors.  

The family requests that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Pineville, Sunday August 9, 2015 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. and continued at the Church Monday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.  

Mr. Cole, 67, of Deville, passed from this life on Friday, August 7, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services celebrating the life of Leonard I. Mr. Cole, 67, of Deville, passed from this life on Friday, August 7, 2015 at his residence. 

Mr. Cole served in the Navy during the Vietnam War as a gunner on the River Patrol of the 105 Howitzer Monitor River Boat. He received the following honors: Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Cole was a member of Jonesville First Pentecostal Church and read his Bible through every year for the last 35 years. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid lover of classic cars especially 57 Chevrolets. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law. He loved his family and was loved in return, and will be missed but not forgotten.  

He was preceded in death by his father, James Luther Cole and sister, Sue Turley.  

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Armenia “Menzie” Knapp Cole; mother, Pauline McDaniel Cole; son, Reverend Michael L. Cole and wife, Majken; daughter, Dewana G. Cole; grandchildren, Laikyn Cole Barksdale and husband, Reverend Ricky Shane Barksdale and Tyson Cole.
