Woman perishes in Dupont mobile home fire

A Dupont woman lost her life in a mobile home fire this morning, December 2. According to Dupont Fire Chief Warren Lemoine a double-wide mobile home fire at 1880 La. Hwy 1180 in Dupont killed aVirginia Dauzat, age 63. The fire was reported at 3:29 a.m. on Friday, December 2.
Fire departments from Dupont and Plaucheville arrived on the scene and it took firemen an estimated 45 minutes to get the fire under control.
Dupont Fire Chief Warren Lemoine said the husband of Dauzat was also at home, and tried to get his wife out of the home but was unsuccessful. Firemen located Dauzat in her bedroom once the fire was under control.
Lemoine explained the cause of the fire and what killed Dauzat was undetermined as of Friday afternoon. He said the State Fire Marshal’s Office was at the home to investigate the fire because a death was involved. It could be a couple of weeks before a report on the cause of the fire and how Dauzat died will be released.
No firemen were hurt in the fire.
