The event is being sponsored by the Avoyelles Parish Rocks Facebook group.

First class of conversational French to be held at main  library branch Saturday
Orientation for a weekly class in conversational Avoyelles French will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 10) in the Avoyelles Parish Library at 660 N. Main St. in Marksville.
The class will be taught by Gail Descant Lemoine and is sponsored by the Avoyelles Chapter of CODOFIL.
Lemoine is a native of Avoyelles Parish and retired as a French teacher after teaching 33 years in public and parochial schools.
She said lessons will be taught totally in French and will focus on teaching the language “the same way you learned English” -- by listening and doing.
Lessons will not dwell on rules of grammar,  conjugating verbs, etc. and there will be no translating of phrases from English to French or French to English, she said.
For more information, contact Lemoine at 225-776-5637 or parish CODOFIL President Sheldon Roy at 337-852-5209.
