Juvenile Leads Troopers on High-Speed Chase in Stolen Car

  

ALEXANDRIA, LA – A 15-year-old was arrested this afternoon after leading authorities on a high-speed chase in Rapides Parish while driving a stolen car.

  

On July 30, 2015, shortly before 4:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E learned that a 2015 Chrysler 200 stolen in Avoyelles Parish was traveling north on Louisiana Highway 1 towards Rapides Parish.  Less than an hour later, a deputy with the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle. 

 

Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle on Louisiana Highway 3170 in Rapides Parish.  The driver responded by accelerating, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles-per-hour, and traveled north into Alexandria. 

 

The vehicle came to a stop in the parking lot of a convenience store on North Mall Boulevard and the driver fled on foot.  Authorities quickly apprehended the driver and placed him under arrest for unauthorized use of a moveable, speeding, aggravated flight from an officer, no driver’s license, and resisting arrest.

 

The juvenile male, whose name is not being released due to his age, was released to the custody of the Renaissance Juvenile Home in Alexandria.

 

The pursuit lasted 12 minutes and no injuries or damage to property were reported.  Additional law enforcement agencies assisted with the pursuit and apprehension of the suspect.
