Schools in Avoyelles announce registration, open house dates

   Registration for the 2015-16 school year in Avoyelles Parish is beginning this week. Several schools will also hold an open house in the next few weeks.

   Items needed for registration of new students for the Avoyelles Parish public schools include: address verification documentation, copy of Social Security card, copy of birth certificate,  shot records, withdrawal form from last school attended, and transcript, test scores, and any other information affecting student's enrollment.

   Parents/guardians should bring a list of phone numbers and email addresses to be updated. Address changes will be done when address verification of 911 address is completed. Address verification documentation should include but is not limited to the following: (1) Homestead exemption receipt or notarized rent/lease agreement or notarized APSB form (available at school/main office to include disconnect/cancellation of last living establishment); (2) Copy of guardian’s driver's license; (3) Two current utility bills with 911 address (4) Disconnect of past residency electric utility.

   The schedule of registration and open houses is as follows: 

 

Avoyelles High

    Registration at AHS in Moreauville begins July 27 in the gymnasium from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and will continue July 28 and July 29 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Schedule change forms will be available, but no changes will be made at registration. Diploma and graduation plan forms will be available. Only graduation candidates will be given an individual appointment after July 30. All student schedules will be finalized by Aug. 12, after which no schedule changes will be allowed for the Fall Block.

    There will be an open house on July 27 from 5-5:30 p.m. Information will be provided concerning the latest Louisiana Diploma types which will affect student schedules. 

 

Bunkie Learning Academy

    Registration at BELA will be August 3 and 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. There will be a $25 registration fee. 

    The school will host an open house from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on August 6.

 

Bunkie New Tech High

    BNTH will hold registration on July 29 for the high school grades. Students entering 11th and 12th grades will register from 8-11 a.m. Students entering the 10th and 9th grades will register from noon-3 p.m. On July 30, students entering the 8th grade will register from 8-11 a.m. and those entering 7th grade will register from noon-3 p.m. 

No open house is scheduled.

 

Cottonport Elementary

    Registration at CES will be held from from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day July 27, 28 and 29.  

    The school will host an open house starting at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 6.

 

Lafargue Elementary

    LES in Effie will hold school registration from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily beginning on Wednesday, July 22 until school begins.

There will be an open house from 5-6:30 p.m. on Aug. 6.

 

LOUISIANA SCHOOL FOR THE AGRICULTURAL  SCIENCES

     LaSAS, located near Bunkie in the Bay Hills community, will hold school registration from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on July 27-31.

     An open house has been set for Aug. 20 from 3-6 p.m.

 

Marksville Elementary

    MES will hold registration during the week of July 27-31, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. There will be a registration fee of $25. 

The date for an open house has not yet been decided.

     Marksville Elementary will hold an open house on Tuesday, August 11 from 5 to 6 p.m. The open house will be held inside the Marksville Elementary cafeteria. 

 

 

Marksville High

   Registration at MHS will be July 27-31 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  A registration fee of $30 will be assessed. Only money orders or cash will be accepted. 

   All 12th and 11th grade students will register on July 27; 10th and 9th grade students on July 28; 8th graders on July 29; and 7th graders on July 30.  Students who miss their scheduled time may register on July 31. 

    The faculty and staff invites all stakeholders to an open house on Aug. 6 from 3:30-6:30 p.m.

 

Plaucheville Elementary

    PES has set its registration schedule for July 21 through July 27 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. There will be a registration fee of $25. 

     The school will host an open house Aug. 6 at 6 p.m.

 

Riverside Elementary

    RES in Simmesport will register students  beginning tomorrow through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. There will be a registration fee of $25. 

     Open house at the school will begin at 6 p.m. on Aug. 6.

 

ST. MARY’S ASSUMPTION

    St. Mary’s Assumption School in Cottonport will hold registration this Monday from noon to 6 p.m. All fees for students are due at the time of registration. 

    There will be an open house on Aug. 9 from 3-5 p.m. Students can bring school supplies for each classroom during the open house.

   Sacred Heart School in Moreauville will hold registration on  Aug. 6 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. All fees must be paid at the time of registration. 

     An open house will be held on  Aug. 11 after the 5:30 p.m. Mass. For more information call (318) 985-2772.

 

ST. JOSEPH

    St. Joseph School in Plaucheville held registration last week.  The school has scheduled an open house for parents and students on Oct. 14 from 3-7 p.m. in conjunction with the end of the first 9-weeks grading period. For more information call (318) 922-3401.

 

ST. ANTHONY

     Registration at St. Anthony of Padua School in Bunkie will be  July 29 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. No open house date has been set. For more information call (318) 346-2739.

 

AVOYELLES PUBLIC  CHARTER 

     Registration dates and times for the Avoyelles Public Charter School in Mansura have not been announced. The 2015-16 school year will begin on  Aug. 13.
