Dauzat arrested in beheading death of wife

A former Avoyelles Parish resident has been named in the beheading of his wife, who also was from Avoyelles.

According to KXXV TV station in Waco, David Dauzat, age 23, of Bellmead, Texas was covered in blood when he surrendered to police after a stand off in his home today. The body of his wife, 21 year old Natasha Tagliarino Dauzat was discovered after her husband is believed to have beheaded her in the home and placed her head in a freezer. KCEN reported that Mrs. Dauzat was stabbed before she was decapitated, but said police would not confirm how she was killed.

Officers were called about 11 a.m. to a mobile home in Bellmead after a man called and told authorities he had killed his wife.
A hostage negotiator made contact with David Dauzat who voluntarily walked out of the home.

Two toddlers, a 1-year-old and 2-year-old, were found in the residence once police made it inside after the standoff with Dauzat. Those children are now in Child Protective Services custody.

The couple -- who observed their second anniversary on aug. 23, just two days before the murder -- moved from their home in Hessmer over a year ago after Dauzat lost his job, a family member said.
Bellmead is located north of Waco in central Texas, between Dallas and Austin.

The Facebook page of David Dauzat stated he attended school at Marksville High School.
The Facebook page of Natasha Tagliarino Dauzat stated "I'm the happiest girl ever with an amazing Husband and kids and I love them".

Word of the tragedy spread quickly Thursday evening, stunning many who knew them.

A Facebook user named Tay N Robert Pipkin said of Dauzat: "He was quite not violent".

Dessi Simon said he “wasn’t a violent person when I knew him. OMG, I can’t believe this.
“He was never a violent person,” family member Kayla Dauzat wrote. “I’m thinking he was on drugs or something, because no one in their right mind can do something like this. Just keep my family in your prayers. We are all shaken up behind this.”
“So sad. It hits hard when you know them,” Ina Cooley posted.

Dauzat is being held in the McLennan County jail on a murder charge.
The Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Rangers are assisting with the investigation.
