Geraldine ‘Geri’ Schwartzenburg, age 80, of Marksville

Funeral mass for Mrs. Geraldine ‘Geri’ Schwartzenburg will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville with Father Pike Thomas and Fr. Thomas Paul officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Marksville. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.
Mrs. Schwartzenburg, age 80, of Marksville, passed away at her residence in Marksville on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Henrietta Thibodeaux.
Survivors include her husband Ralph Errol Schwartzenburg of Marksville, 2 sons Robert Errol Schwartzenburg and wife Amy of Ruston; Lee J. Schwartzenburg and wife Lisa of Liberty Lake, Wash., 2 daughters Deanna S. Long and husband Randy of Benton; Myrl E. Schwartzenburg of Baton Rouge, 10 grandchildren Luke Schwartzenburg and wife Courtney; Joel Schwartzenburg and wife Jayme; Rene’ Schwartzenburg; Darbi Long; Errol Hunter Long; Logan Schwartzenburg; Taylor Schwartzenburg; Macic May; Carter May and Caroline May, 2 great grandchildren Ada Lyn Schwartzenburg and William James Schwartzenburg.
Geri was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville. Involved in numerous organizations to include Apple of His Eye Charismatic Pray Group (25 years), Arts and Humanities Council of Avoyelles, Chamber of Commerce, Avoyelles Council on Aging Board of Directors (Past President and Board Memebr), Fox Theater Board, Friends of Avoyelles Parish Libraries, Jaycee Janes (Past President), LA Cuisine de la Louisiana, LA Commission des Avoyelles, LeBicentenaire de la ville de Marksville 200th Birthday Celebration, Marksville High School Band Booster Club, Red Cross Volunteer, Red Hat Society, St. Joseph Canter, Retired Employee of State of LA after 10 years of Service (Worked a total of 47 years), Retired State Association. Receiving 2 awards being 2006 Kirby Roy “Going Beyond” award and 2007 Chamber of Commerce “Outstanding Woman Volunteer”.
The family would like to express a special Thank You to Taylor, Shirley, Richard, Meloney, Monica, Gurlen, Deborah and the staff of All Saints Hospice.
In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to All Saints Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016 from 9:00am until 12:20pm. at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Luke Schwartzenburg, Joel Schwartzenburg, Errol Hunter Long, Randy Long, Richard Worthy and Robert Louis LeBlanc. Serving as honorary pallbears will be Mike LeBlanc and John Schwartzenburg.
