Buaker “Bill” Bains, Jr., age 70, of Mansura

SIMMESPORT- Funeral services for Buaker “Bill” Bains, Jr. were held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Simmesport where Rev. Lee Edward Gage officiated. Burial followed in Zion Traveler Cemetery Jacoby, under the direction of Progressive Funeral Home in Bunkie.
Bill, age 70, of Mansura, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015, at Captial Home Nursing Home in Baton Rouge.
He was baptized at New Bethel Baptist Church in Simmesport and later joined Zion Traveler Baptist Church where he was a faithful member. Bill was a 1963 graduate of Dunbar High School in Simmesport and was employed by Lecombe Logging for several years until his health failed.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 35 years, Olevia Bibbins Bains of Mansura; four sons, Warren (Christine) Smith of Simmesport, Everett (Linda) Bains of Phoenix, Arizona, Russell (Angela) James of Melville, and Anthony (Claudella) Bains of Chesapeake, Virginia; three daughters, Angela Smith of Simmesport, Vontrice (Michael Randall) Bains of Marietta, Georgia, and Samantha Bibbins of Mansura; five brothers, Alvin Bains of Houston, Texas, Norris Bains of Houston, Texas, Walter (Geneva) Bains of Mansura, Ray (Eloise) Bains of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Bruce (Marie) Bains of Lettsworth; two sisters, Doris (Artis) Clark August of Houston, Texas, and Effie (Charles) Smith of Monroe; 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Pallbearers were, Albert Bibbins, Stafford Goodman, Lorenzo O’Quine, Corey Brown, Kendrick Thomas, and Geremy Bibbins.
