REP. HOLLIS RECOVERING AFTER AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT AT STATE CAPITOL

(Mandeville, LA) - Louisiana State Representative Paul Hollis (R-104) is recovering at home tonight after a new security system installed at the State Capitol injured the lawmaker and left his vehicle with considerable damage.

As Rep. Hollis exited the parking lot at the Capitol, two electronically controlled bollards were activated - piercing the front of his car and sending the State Representative into the windshield.

"During today's automobile accident, I broke my right hand and suffered a concussion after my head hit the windshield," said Rep. Hollis.  "I appreciate the outpouring of prayers from my colleagues and friends at the Capitol and anticipate a quick recovery.

"As the details of this incident are compiled, I look forward to working in tandem with State Police to better educate fellow lawmakers and staff on the new security system that is now in place.   At the end of the day, we must ensure that "The People's House" is accessible to the public while safe for those who are given the opportunity to serve."
