FIFTH WARD - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Shirley Mae Guillot at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016, in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Fifth Ward with Rev. Dan O'Connor and Deacon Ted Moulard officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery under the direction of Kramer of Fifth Ward.
Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m.
Shirley Mae Guillot, 81 of Fifth Ward, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at LSU Medical Center, Shreveport. She was born on March 5, 1935.
Ms. Shirley was born, raised and lived her life out in Fifth Ward. She worked for the Avoyelles Parish School Board as a cook for the Fifth Ward High School. She also worked at Wade’s Grocery in Hickory Hill and Pinecrest State School.
Ms. Shirley, Maw-Maw Shirley, She-li, was an inspiring woman, a hard worker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, who led her life with her strong belief and passion for the Lord. Shirley loved to cook and take care of her family and everyone she met. She always had a smile on her face, and greeted everyone with a warm hug. Her warm embrace will be dearly missed by all of those she ever met.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Leontine Dauzat; her husband Joseph “Joe” Guillot; and her siblings, Huey Dauzat and Lyson Dauzat, Sr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Perry (Jean) Guillot of Fifth Ward and Brenda (Carl) Simon of Fifth Ward; her grandchildren, Karla (Steven) Grimm, Kelly (Jarred) Kovach, Colby Simon, Stephanie (Gabe) Murdock, Dawn (Travis) LaCombe and Keith Hayes; great grandchildren, Brooke Grimm, Alexis Juneau, Colton Grimm, Zoey Kovach, Braden Kovach, Sandi Bordelon, Kyle Bordelon, Hayley King, and Kyle LaCombe; one great-great grandson, Grayson Gremillion; her siblings, Cleveland (Jean) Dauzat, Betty (Clarence) Guillot, and Gerard Dauzat; a nephew, that she raised like a son, Evans (Laura) Dauzat; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Bryan Dauzat, McWayne Dauzat, Evans Dauzat, Carlos Guillot, Kyle Bordelon, Lyson Dauzat, Jr., Kevin Dauzat, David Dauzat.
