SIMMESPORT - Funeral services for Coy Rodgers will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Simmesport with Bro. James Wynn officiating. Burial will follow in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery in Simmesport under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.
Visitation will be at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Simmesport on Friday, November 25, 2016 beginning at 5 p.m. and on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 7 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m.
Mr. Rodgers, age 82, of Lettsworth, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at his residence. He was born on April 1, 1934. He was a retired farmer and sawmill owner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Bennett Rodgers; son, David Lynn Rodgers; his parents, Will and Della Rogers; his sisters, Catherine Eldridge, Idabell Causey, Ollie May Scherrer and Dellamay Keys; and his brothers, Roy Rodgers, Jessie Rogers and Rawleigh “Rollie” Rodgers.
He is survived by five daughters, Elizabeth Rodgers (Jerry) Mitchell of Mansura, Rosemary Rodgers (Patrick) Rabalais of Simmesport, Brenda Rodgers (Brent) Barr of Simmesport, Pamela (Earl) Adams of Simmesport and Sherry Rodgers (Eric) Carver of Plaucheville; three sons, Phillip (Susan) Rodgers of Hamburg, Boyd Dewayne (Melissa) Rodgers of Lettsworth and Coy (Michelle) Rodgers of Lettsworth; one brother, Dale (Sharon) Rogers of Lettsworth; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and two great, great-grandchildren.
