Bobbie Jean Crawford-Fleury

MONROE, LA - Funeral Services for Mrs. Bobbie Jean Crawford-Fleury were held on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., at the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, in Monroe, LA, with the Reverend Greg Oliver officiating. Interment followed at Richwood Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were entrusted to Miller Funeral Home of Monroe, LA.Mrs. Fleury departed this life on Monday, March 30, 2015, at 1:15 p.m., at St. Francis Hospital, in Monroe, LA, at the age of 74. A native of Bunkie, Louisiana, Bobbie Jean was baptized in 1950 (at the age of 10) at the Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Bunkie, LA, by the late Reverend J.J. Spane. She was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School of Bunkie. To complete her formal education, Bobbie attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA, and furthered studied at UCLA, Berkley.In 1960, Bobbie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Henry John “H.J.” Johnson. One daughter, the late LaWanna Johnson-Waller, was born to this union. In 1978, Bobbie Jean married her second husband, the late Gilbert Anthony Fleury.While residing in the Berkley/Oakland, California area, Bobbie was an active member of the McGee Avenue Baptist Church in Richmond, CA. She later moved to Antioch, California, where she joined the fellowship of the New Birth Church. In October of 2014, Bobbie relocated to Monroe, Louisiana, where she immediately united with the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. She served there faithfully until her death.Survivors include one sister, Georgia A. Wilson (Wilson W.) of Monroe, LA; two brothers, Murphy Crawford, Jr (Melba) of Houston, TX and Marvin E. Crawford, Sr. (Vern) of Bunkie, LA; one son-in-law, Kirk Waller of Pittsburg, CA; two grandsons, Eric and Elijah Waller of Pittsburg, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.In addition to her husbands and daughter, Bobbie was predeceased into the eternal by her parents, Murphy Crawford, Sr. and Gladys Brown-Crawford.Active pallbearers honored to serve were Warren M. Wilson, David Wilson, Marvin Crawford, Jr., Craig W. Foster, Kirk C. Waller, and Mark C. Crawford.
