Murkle Dupuy dies

Murkle Dupuy, 74, of Moncla, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday. He was recently honored as the Avoyellean of the Year for 2015.
Mr. Dupuy was a long-time music teacher and an evaluator for the state Gifted & Talented Program. He was also an instructor at the Alert School, the Avoyelles Parish School District's alternative school.
He was the founder, president and director of the Moncla Community Theater, the founder and president of the Moncla Mardi Gras Association and co-founder of Les Theatre de Bon Temps. He also directed several church choirs in the parish, including the Avoyelles Men’s Choir and St. Cecilia Chorale.
