DHH Sec. Gee to speak at 'Town Hall' meeting Oct. 12

Will discuss Medicaid eligibility expansion

Dr. Rebekah E. Gee, Louisiana secretary of Health & Human Services, will be special guest speaker at a “Town Hall” meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 12 at the LSU AgCenter in Mansura.
Gee will present information on the issue of Medicaid expansion and answer any questions people may have about this important healthcare initiative.
The program is being sponsored by the Avoyelles Police Jury.
“People need to understand more about the expansion of the Medicaid program,” Police Jury President Charles Jones said. “There are people working at jobs here in Avoyelles Parish that are eligible for Medicaid under the new eligibility guidelines -- and they may not know they are eligible.”
Jones said he is glad the DHH secretary is taking the time to visit Avoyelles to address this issue, and he hopes a large number of citizens attend the meeting to both express their appreciation to Gee for her efforts and to learn more about the Medicaid program.
