Oct. 11 is the last day for unregistered eligible voters to register for the Nov. 8 elections.

Deadline for voter registration is Oct. 11

 

    Those eligible to vote who have not yet registered have until Oct. 11 to register so they can cast ballots in the Nov. 8 Presidential election.
    Early voting for the Nov. 8 elections will be Oct. 25-Nov. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Registrar’s Office on the second floor of the Avoyelles Courthouse in Marksville.
    The deadline for voters to request an absentee mail-in ballot is Nov. 4. The last day for the registrar to receive those ballots is Nov. 7.
   Offices on the Nov. 8 ballot parishwide in Avoyelles Parish include President, U.S. senator, U.S. representative for the 5th District, associate justice of the La. Supreme Court (District 3), judge for the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal  (District 1, Div. B) and Public Service Commission (District 4). There are also six proposed constitutional amendments.
    Other local offices to be decided in the upcoming elections include Hessmer police chief; mayor and District 4 alderman in Simmesport; and mayor, District 1 alderman, District 4 alderman and police chief in Cottonport.
