SULPHUR –St. Joseph’s of Plaucheville came up just short of claiming its first state title in school history.
St. Joe’s (22-5) overcame spotting Hackberry (23-3) six runs in the first two inning and made a one-run game in the fourth inning. The four-time defending champions proved to have too much firepower for the Lady Eagles to handle as Hackberry defeated St. Joe’s 16-6 in six innings on Field 13 at Frasch Park Saturday night.

This is the third time St. Joe’s has finished as state runner-up.
