Waterfowl space-blind lottery application period Oct. 1-31

   Waterfowl space-blind lottery hunts are scheduled at Grand Cote National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) on Wednesdays and Saturdays until noon during the second split only of the Louisiana waterfowl hunting season beginning Dec. 19 and continuing through Jan. 30, 2016.  

    Hunters must apply prior to the season at centrallouisianapermits.com.The application period begins Oct. 1 and ends at 4 p.m. Oct. 31.
    Applicants may select up to five hunt dates, noting them as 1st-5th choice on the application. They cannot apply for all dates.  Those selected will be notified by email. One application per person is required along with a $5 application fee.   Any applicant over 16 must purchase a non-refundable $20 Central Louisiana NWR Complex Hunting/Fishing/ATV Special Recreational Activity Permit prior to their hunt date.
    The permit is available online, at the refuge HQ, Grand Cote and Catahoula NWR offices, Kate & Ivy’s Grocery on La. Hwy 452 in Brouillette and T-Town in Jonesville. Applicants can pay the fee by credit card, Paypal or bank draft. To purchase by mail, send a $20 money order with name, address and phone number to Central Louisiana Refuge Complex, c/o Accela Corp., PO Box 1092, McLean, VA 22101.
    Up to 13 space-blinds will be available, based on water levels. Blinds will be randomly assigned in a lottery drawing to be held after the application deadline. All blinds have a  capacity of three persons. Hunters must furnish their own boat, decoys, and necessary equipment.  
Hunts may be canceled due to water and weather conditions.  Access to blinds may require walking or non-motorized/ electric powered boats. 
     All other refuge and waterfowl hunting regulations apply.
