December 10
The Fox- Christmas Extravaganza
The Fox Theatre will hold its annual “Christmas Music Extravaganza” this Thursday, Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. The Fox is located at 111 S. Washington St. in Marksville.
Local choirs and soloists, including some of the stars from Decades, will perform Christmas carols.
Tickets are $8 each in advance and $10 at the door.  There will be free hot chocolate and cookies. Wine and egg nog will be available for purchase.

December 11
Simmesport- Cajun Christmas 
on the River
A fireworks display will take place in Simmesport this Friday, Dec. 11 at the Avoyelles Port Commission. Gumbo will be sold for $5 a bowl. Events for the Cajun Christmas on the River will kickoff at 6 p.m. 
Simmesport will conduct its Christmas Lighting Contest on Dec. 16. For more information contact Simmesport Town Hall at (318) 941-2493. 
 
December 12
Plaucheville- 
“Christmas in the Village”
The village of Plaucheville will hold its “Christmas in the Village” event this Saturday, Dec. 12 with activities beginning at 10 a.m.
More than 30 vendors will be set up around the Plaucheville Community Center from 10 a.m to 4 p.m., selling a wide variety of arts & crafts, food and desserts.
Door prizes will be given away throughout the day. 
The annual Plaucheville Christmas Parade will begin at 1 p.m. Line up will be at Coleman Lane, off La. Hwy. 107-S. The route will be Hwy 107 into Plaucheville, circling through Plaucheville Plaza Apartments and ending at the community center parking lot on La. Hwy 1181.
After the parade, Santa Claus will be available for free photos in the community center.

Mansura- Christmas Parade
The Mansura Christmas Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12.  Lineup begins at 10 a.m. The parade will travel on Drouin Street, down L’Eglise Street, pass in front of the Mansura Town Hall and the Mansura Fire Department and end at Large Road.

Bordelonville- 
Santa on the Bayou
Santa will visit the bayou area on Saturday, Dec. 12 when he stops by the recently renovated  Bordelonville  Fire Department Community Training Center (former Bordelonville High School gym) from 12 noon to 3 p.m.
Activities will include photos with Santa, crafts, story time, hot chocolate and cookies.
All children will receive a goody-bag. There will be a contest for the best-decorated gingerbread house for the children, with a special prize for the winner. To register to participate in the contest, or for more information on activities, call Brandi Lemoine at (318) 447-2340. 
 
December 12 & 13
Cottonport- 
Christmas on the Bayou Festival
The Cottonport Christmas on the Bayou Festival committee invites everyone to come out and enjoy the fireworks display on Saturday, Dec. 12 and the annual parade on Sunday, Dec. 13 in Cottonport.
The Christmas Fireworks on the Bayou will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday. The Christmas parade will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The entry fee to participate in the parade for floats or trailers is $25 and $15 for  marching units, dance units and special entries such as vehicles or motorcycles.
Horses and 4-wheelers will not be allowed in the parade or in the city limits.
Vulgar dancing and music on the parade route will not be allowed. Units violating this rule will be pulled from the parade, cited and banned from future participation.
Santa Claus will be in the parade and parade organizers ask that no other “Santas” enter the parade.
The winner of an overall trophy will be awarded for the best all around entry in the parade. The trophy will be presented at the Cotton Queen on Cottonport Ave. after the parade.  Other categories including marching, dancing, float or vehicle  and special entries will also have winners.
“We are not liable for any accidents that may occur, so please be careful,” an event spokesperson said. 
Bonfires and barbecue pits will not be allowed along the bayou. No alcohol is allowed and the open container law will be enforced. Law enforcement personnel will be on duty.

First Baptist of Bunkie-
“Star of Wonder” musical 
The adult choir of First Baptist Church at 203 S. Lexington Ave. in Bunkie, will perform in a Christmas musical on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m.
This year’s musical is entitled “Star of Wonder” and features songs of peace, hope and joy for the Christmas season. The event is free and open to the public.

Hessmer Baptist-
“First Noel” Christmas Cantata
Hessmer Baptist Church Choir will present a Christmas Cantata titled “The First Noel: Celebrating the Birthday of a King” at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13. The church is located at 2927 Main Street in Hessmer.
  A reception will follow the presentation. The public is invited and there is no admission charge.  A nursery will be provided for children up to three years of age.
