Operation Help to hold gathering at shooting site Friday

Representatives of the national Operation Help Civil Rights Group will conduct a public gathering at the scene of this past Tuesday's fatal shooting.

Wendol Lee, president of the Memphis-based organization, said the organization received many requests from individuals in the Marksville area asking for Operation Help's assistance in the aftermath of the shooting death of 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis and the wounding of his father, Chris Few. Friday's gathering will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Martin Luther King Dr. and Taensas Street, near the Marksville Historic Site park.

"I am asking that anyone with any information on this matter please come to this gathering and share that with us," Lee said.

Lee said Operation Help has over 1 million members and 72 chapters nationwide.
