Lachney in custody

A 9-hour standoff on Addison Street ended Wednesday night with no additional gunplay or injuries.

Will Ray Lachney, 32, of Marksville was taken into custody shortly before 6:30 p.m.  The tense situation began around 9:30 a.m. when police were called to the Marksville Housing Authority when Lachney was seen walking around the neighborhood with a shotgun he had taken from a hunter in a nearby woods. Family members said officers attempted to serve a warrant on an outstanding domestic violence charge and Lachney took refuge in a house. He released the residents of that house soon after barricading himself in the home.

Lachney's mother, Sharon, was shot in the arm -- reportedly by a police officer -- early in the stand-off as she was talking to Lachney in an attempt to end the situation. She was taken to an Alexandria hospital for treatment.

More information will be provided as it is released.
