FBI, Justice Dept. and U.S. Attorney's Office are assisting in fatal shooting investigation

Although not revealing the extent of its involvement, an FBI official has confirmed that the FBI and the Department of Justice are assisting Louisiana State Police in the investigation of the fatal shooting of a child by ward/city marshals on Nov. 3.

"LSP, FBI, USAO (U.S. Attorney’s Office), and DOJ Civil Rights Division are in constant communication regarding this matter," said Craig Betbeze, of the FBI New Orleans Division.
State Police investigators met with state Attorney General James “Buddy” Caldwell’s staff on Tuesday -- the first such meeting since the AG Office took over prosecution of the case against suspects Norris Greenhouse Jr. and Derrick Stafford for the 2nd-degree murder of Jeremy Mardis and 2nd-degree attempted murder of his father, Chris Few, for the shooting that occurred on Martin Luther King Drive on Nov. 3.
It has also been noted that Greenhouse will be represented by Alexandria attorney George Higgins. Stafford is currently being represented by Brad Dauzat of the 12th Judicial District Public Defender's Office.
