Addison Street scene reportedly turned over to State Police

The most recent update on the Addison Street stand-off is that the scene has been turned over to State Police and a LSP special weapons team is at the scene. As of 3 p.m., Will Ray Lachney was still in the house and refusing to surrender to police.

It has been reported that Lachney took a shotgun from a hunter in the woods and was walking around the Marksville Housing Authority area with the gun. When police arrived, Lachney fired the shotgun in the air. Nobody was injured at that time. He then ran into an occupied home. After a short period, he allowed the residents to leave.

Lachney's mother, Sharon Lachney, was allowed to talk to the suspect face-to-face. It is reported that she tried to grab the gun from Lachney and that at some point in that interaction a Marksville police officer fired his weapon, striking her in the arm or elbow. Lachney then retreated back into the house. Ms. Lachney was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to Alexandria with what was described as "non-life-threatening" wounds.

It has not been officially confirmed that Lachney "traded" the stolen shotgun for cigarettes, but family members said that he did.
