Several holiday events going on this week

Shopping, BBQ cook-off/car show, community feast

 

    ‘Tis the season to be thinking about about the season -- the Christmas shopping season, that is.
    Several special shopping events are scheduled for the next few days.
    The Bunkie Chamber Christmas Open House will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
Businesses participating in this event include: City Drugs, Steeles Florist & Gifts, JoJo Flowers, GibKo, New Parrino Drugs, Fleur De Lis Boutique, Factory Connection, Security Finance, Twisted Scissors, Dugout/ Rocky’s, T-Raks’s Specialty Meats, Fully Loaded Cafe and Zapote’s Mexican Restaurant.
   “Our members are excited to promote exclusive sales and giveaways for one night only,” Bunkie Chamber President Tiffany Tuminello said. “We invite everyone to come and shop at all the venues for special sales, plus enjoy wine and refreshments at many of the businesses and local restaurants. We want people to buy local and shop local.”

    Christmas Open House Shopping Tour will be held Thursday through Saturday.

    The annual Christmas Extravaganza will be held from 10 a.m.. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Paragon Casino Resort’s Mari Center on Tunica Drive in Marksville.
    The Tunica-Biloxi Political Action Committee is sponsoring its 7th bi-annual "BBQ Throwdown" at the Paragon Casino RV Resort in Marksville this Saturday.
     The event will also include a car and motorcycle show on Friday and Saturday. Various types of vendors are expected at the event.

     The Bunkie Community Feast -- a Thanksgiving season tradition -- will be held Sunday in Haas Auditorium. The meal on Sunday will be served  from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. People who wish to make donations of food are asked to bring them on Sunday morning starting at 9:30 a.m. The food must be in a disposable container with foil covering. Each dish should be clearly tagged  with the contents of the dish, heated and ready to serve.
