Webster was responsible for arranging materials acquisition for construction of military installations in France and Germany from the local residents for Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Forces (SHAEF), and had fond memories of the people he met overseas and his military comrades he still kept in touch with after 60 years even in the final days before his passing.
