Pierrette Henrie Present, age 89, of Plaucheville

PLAUCHEVILLE - A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Madame Pierrette on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Plaucheville with the Revs. Craig Scott and Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will follow in the Mater Dolorosa Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Madame Pierrette Henrie Present of Plaucheville, age 89, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Bayou Chateau Nursing Center in Simmesport. Born on July 15, 1926 on the French Caribbean island of Martinique, Madame Pierrette came to the United Stated in 1960 to work for Msgr. Marcel Anderson, then pastor of St. Genevieve Church in Brouillette, whom she had met when he was a missionary on the island.
Shortly after, Msgr. Anderson was named pastor of Mater Dolorosa Church in Plaucheville, where he remained until his retirement, Madame remained employed at Mater Dolorosa, serving another eight pastors, until her retirement in 2011. Technically her title was housekeeper and cook, but she is more aptly described as majordomo of the Rectory. She was a trusted ear, a loyal friend, and staunch protector. Her greatest love in life was the Church, and everything in her life revolved around her Catholic faith.
She is survived by two nieces, Marie José ‘Cite’ Arrondelle of Martinique and Mathurin Masot Arrondelle of Martinique; and numerous great-nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends are invited to pay their respects at the Church beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Pallbearers honored to serve will be the members of the Knight of Columbus Council # 2142. Honorary pallbearers will be the Brothers of the Holy Eucharist.
