Lorraine Smith Gauthier Bordelon, 98, of Marksville,

Lorraine Smith Gauthier Bordelon, 98, of Marksville, LA, entered into eternal rest at Oakmont Estates, Mansura, LA on November 1, 2015, All Saints’ Day, following a brief illness.
Born in Bunkie, LA, January 26, 1917, Mrs. Bordelon was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Smith and Beulah Normand Smith, husbands, Ross T. Gauthier Jr. and Irwin Bordelon, sister, Cecilia Brochard, daughter-in-law Nava “Bonnie” Gauthier and son-in-law Hamilton “Beau” Cunningham.
Mrs. Bordelon is survived by her five children, Francis “Gus” Gauthier (Pat) of Covington, LA, Yvonne McGaha (Billy) of Abita Springs, LA, Luana Cunningham of Pineville, LA, Ralph Bordelon (Merrill) of Pensacola, FL and Patrick Bordelon (Trenda) of Pollock, LA; and her sister, Ernestine Muller of Denham Springs, LA. 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive her.
Mrs. Bordelon was a well-known soprano soloist for weddings, funerals, and liturgical celebrations, as well as, civic events. She will long be remembered for her solo performances of “O Holy Night” for many years on Christmas Eve at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
She was employed part-time at Hixson Brothers Funeral home, where she not only sang but also played the organ for services in their chapel.

Mrs. Bordelon generously shared her time and talent in service to her church and numerous organizations. She was an active member of her church, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Marksville, where she sang in the choir for 72 years, was a CCD teacher, a member of the Altar Society and an Extraordinary Minister Of Holy Communion. Mrs. Bordelon was also a member of the Home Demonstration Club, American Legion Auxiliary, President of the Mothers Club, and 1969 Queen of Marksville Cent Soixante Dix Festival.
The wake service will be at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, 445 W Bon Temps St, Marksville, on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, from 5 -9 PM. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 141 S Washington St, Marksville, at 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 4, 2015. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Michael McGaha, David Poche, Johnathan Bordelon, Jeremy Bordelon, Brandon Lamartiniere and great-grandson, Peyton McGaha,
