Jean Soulier Meyers

September 3rd, 1928 in New Orleans and died on Monday October 31st in Baton Rouge at age 88 after a brief illness. She was raised in Colfax, LA and after graduating Colfax HS, she attended LSU on a music scholarship and majored in journalism. Jean met the love of her life, Clyde, at an LSU dance and they would have been married 70 years in December. She loved ballroom dancing and was a member of the tap dancing group The Jammin Grannies. Jean taught hundreds of children and adults to swim over a 36 year span. As a talented golfer, she won ladies championships at Fairwood Country Club and Denham Springs Country Club. Jean also made the first hole-in-one ever recorded at Tamahka Trails Golf Course in Marksville, LA. Jean loved to travel and seeing the world, whether going on cruises, flying to Europe, or driving a motor home all over North America. The Colorado Rocky Mountains were her favorite camping destination! She loved nature, being outdoors, horses, and cats. She truly lived life to its fullest! She was a former member of FMCA and The Cruisin Cajuns. Jean was very active in her church, having served as usher, lector, and Eucharistic minister. Jean is survived by her husband Clyde, and her children Jan Meyers Wilkerson, Glynn Meyers Rubin, Lynn Meyers Fogg and husband Kenny, Catherine Meyers Douglas and husband John, Kerry Meyers and wife Jenny, Cindy Meyers Hollier, Dennis Meyers and wife Kelli. Grandchildren Jennifer Waddick, Shannon Rubin, Suzanne Moss, Kevin Fogg, Kelly Regueira, Kori Juban, Sarah Rathbun, Anna Douglas, Dustin Meyers, Scott Meyers, Rachel Brewster, Callie Geier, Trent Meyers, and Luke Meyers, as well as 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Aline Erwin McKnight, father Lloyd J. Soulier, step-father Luther McKnight, and son-in-law Gordon Wilkerson. Visitation will be at Seale Funeral Home in Livingston, LA on Wednesday, November 2nd from 5:00 – 8:00pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, November 3rd at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs from 10:00 – noon, with funeral mass to follow. Burial will follow in Resthaven Garden of Memories, Baton Rouge.
