Dan B Townsend, age 85, a native of Bunkie, and longtime resident of Houma and finally Gonzales

    Townsed, age 85, a native of Bunkie, and longtime resident of Houma and finally Gonzales, for the last 38 years, passed away on the evening of Monday, April 27, 2015.
    He never met a stranger, he was very entertaining, and he had a knack for making people feel at ease. He was a zealous Christian with over 65 years of service to his Creator, Jehovah. He had absolute confidence in the Biblical hope of the final resurrection to life on a Paradise earth in the very near future. A tremendous void has been created by losing this vivacious father, brother, and friend who is so deeply missed already.
    He was preceded in death by parents Bert and Louise Townsend; first wife, June Bailey Townsend; final wife, Gay Nell Songy Townsend; brother-in-law, Dr. Harlon D. Traylor; daughter-in-law, Pat Songy, and one grandson, Monty Deshotels.
     He is survived by his ten children, Lolita (Nathan) Deshotels, Daniel W. “Buddy” (Wanda)  Townsend, Michel “Mickey” (Trevelyn) Songy, Loretta Townsend, Lorraine Townsend, Tammy Townsend, Michael Townsend, Lilah (Kory) LeBouef, Christy Danell “Sissy” (Kent) Wells, Rachel (Tommy) Means, 21 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Doris Townsend Traylor; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins.
