Charles Ray Samson Sr., age 86, of Erwinville

A former business owner, native of Lakeland, a resident of Erwinville and former longtime resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 86. He served his country by enlisting in the US Air Force and received an honorable discharge. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lakeland. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 9am-12noon, with funeral services beginning at 12noon, with Father Todd Lloyd officiating. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 58 years, Florence Jarreau Samson, four daughters Catherine S. Moore and husband Jimmy, Judy S. Diel and husband Kraemer, Peggy S. Reid and husband Byron, Lisa S. LaMotte and husband Randy. His grandchildren; Erica Moore Jackson and husband Matt, Jimmy and Daniel Moore; Jacob R., Emily T. and Joseph J. Samson; Elliot Samson and Conor William Diel; Tyler M. Edwards and Olivia Charles LaMotte and a great grandchild Kelsey A. Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents Olive Decuir Samson and William Jennings Samson, Sr., a son Charles Ray Samson, Jr. a brother William J Samson, Jr. sister Mae S. Bergeron. His grandson will serve as pallbearers.
