'Town Hall' meeting set for Nov. 21 to discuss upcoming parish tax elections

Avoyelles Parish Police Jury and Avoyelles Parish School Board officials will hold a “Town Hall” meeting at the LSU AgCenter in Mansura at 6 p.m. this Monday (Nov. 21) to discuss parish taxes on the Dec. 10 ballot.
Police Jury President Charles Jones said the jury will be presenting the case in favor of four road district property taxes that he said are needed to repair and improve parish roads, bridges and drainageways.
He said APSD Superintendent Blaine Dauzat will discuss the need for a parishwide 1-percent sales tax for school district employees’ salaries.
“We are hoping for a “yes-yes” vote for those taxes,” Jones said. “They are desperately needed for this parish.”
