Red River flood warning in effect until Friday night

The flood warning continues for the Red River near Alexandria, including Avoyelles Parish, from Thursday morning to late Friday night, or until the warning is cancelled.
At 8 p.m. Wednesday the stage was 30.2 feet. Minor flooding is forecast. Flood stage is 32.0 feet.
Forecast: rise above flood stage by tomorrow morning and continue to rise to near 33.0 feet by early tomorrow afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage by Friday afternoon.
Impact: at stages near 32.0 feet, flooding of lowland areas near the river occurs and recreational boating is affected.
