Men allegedly knock down mother, attempt to kidnap toddler while walking in Deville

At approximately 11:35 a.m. on July 28, Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office deputies at the Deville Sub-station received a report from a woman about an attempted kidnapping of her child.
The woman stated she was walking along Philadelphia Road near Downs Drive with her three children and a white Dodge Neon occupied by four white males, stopped, knocked her down and took her 2-year-old child.
The suspect vehicle then drove away with the child as the mother gathered up the other two children to give chase.
She lost sight of the suspect vehicle and continued running down Philadelphia Road when she heard her child crying and located it in the ditch.
Deputies saturated the area looking for the suspect vehicle but could not locate it. Acadian Ambulance arrived and checked out the child who was found to be okay.
Sheriff’s detectives have also responded to conduct their investigation.
The suspect vehicle is a white Dodge Neon and had peeling paint on the back doors of the vehicle. The vehicle is occupied by four white males who were “un-kept or scraggly”.
