Marksville High celebrating Homecoming this week

Homecoming game against Jena Giants, 7 p.m. Friday

 

    Marksville High School is celebrating Homecoming this week with several activities designed to raise school spirit.
    The Homecoming parade will be Thursday, with the line up beginning at 5 p.m. at the gymnasium and the parade starting at 6 p.m.
    The Homecoming Court will be crowned at Friday night’s game pitting the Marksville Tigers against the Jena Giants. Crowning ceremonies will be at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Warren Douglas Memorial Stadium.
    Students voted on Homecoming Court from a list of applicants meeting the following qualifications:  a member of at least one school club, school organization, school activity, or school sport; discipline record of no more than one out-of-school, two in-school suspension and no felony or misdemeanor convictions; and no unpaid school fees.
   There are 10 girls on the Homecoming Court. The  queen is the senior girl with the most votes; Senior Maid is the senior girl with the second most votes; Junior Maid is the junior girl with the most votes; Sophomore Maid is the sophomore girl with the most votes; Freshman Maid is the freshman girl with the most votes. The remaining five court members are the top vote-getting candidates from any grade level.
    The winners were announced Oct. 2. They are: Carol Alexander, daughter of Ralph and Victoria Alexander of Marksville; Faith Cammack, daughter of Glenn and Felicia Cammack of Pineville; Nijah Carter, daughter of Robin Carter of Marksville; Kyra Harris, daughter of Dynell Harris and Kila Jordan of Marksville; Tyra Jacobs, daughter of Felicia Benjamin of Cottonport; Brandy Laprairie, daughter of Charles and Carol Laprairie of Marksville; Katelyn Lavalais, daughter of Joseph and Mildred Lavalais of Marksville;Tyneshaye  Malbrough, granddaughter of Margret Malbrough of Marksville; Reneshia Nelson, daughter of Reginald and Dinika Nelson of Marksville;  and Alecia Slaughter, daughter of Chasity Dauzat of Marksville.
