Avoyelles High celebrates Homecoming this week

Avoyelles High School in Moreauville is celebrating its 2016 Homecoming this week.
Students will compete in a variety of activities, including best class T-shirt, float, chant, door decorations, banner, and class winners each day at recess. They will also be competing for the overall trophy.
Homecoming week will feature dress-up days at the school with themes as follows:
Monday- “Movie Monday” with the daily competition of Ships and Sailors.
Tuesday- “Tacky Tuesday” with the daily competition being a relay race.
Wednesday- “Wild Wednesday” with the daily competition being a tug-of-war.
Thursday- “Class Shirt Thursday” with the daily competition being a cheer war.
Friday- “Blue & Gold Friday”
Each class will also raise money through “Horseshoe Hookup.” Students will purchase a horseshoe for $1 and place on it the name of a person battling cancer or who died of cancer. The class with the longest chain of horseshoes by Thursday wins. All proceeds will be donated to Relay for Life. 
The AHS Homecoming parade and pep rally will be on Thursday. The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. at Avoyelles High School and proceeds onto Main Street towards Town Hall. It will continue
on Bayou Des Glaises Road and take a right onto Lemoine Street, ending up at the AHS football field. The pep rally will immediately follow the parade.
The Homecoming game against the Winnfield Tigers will kickoff at 7 p.m. Friday. The Homecoming Court for middle school students will walk at 6:30 p.m. while the high school Homecoming Court will be presented at halftime. 
On Saturday, the Homecoming dance for middle school students will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The high school dance will be from 9-11 p.m.
DJ Flex will be the DJ for both dances.
